This is the real reader. Press Explain, or paste a text of your own.

Works in every app you already use

Zimplfy sits in the menu bar and works on the text in front of you: an email, a PDF, a chat. The result lands next to the original, or replaces it with one key.

Your application for a parking permit has been approved. The permit fee of £120 is payable within 30 days of this notice. The permit must be displayed before use.

One shortcut. Five ways through the day.

For anyone who finds text hard going, and for anyone who reads and writes all day. Nothing to open, nothing to paste around. It works on the text in front of you.

01 · Read aloud

Hear it instead.

A long email, a contract, a page in a PDF. Select it and listen. A natural voice reads in Swedish or English and each word is marked as it is spoken, so eyes and ears stay together. Pick 0.8×, 1.0× or 1.2×.

Before

The tenancy may be terminated by either party with three months' written notice.

02 · Explain

The same content, in plain words.

Letters from the council, insurance terms, a dense paragraph at work. Explain gives you the easy-to-read version: short sentences, one idea per sentence, hard words explained in brackets, every fact kept. Shown next to the original, never pasted over it.

Before

Reimbursement is contingent upon submission of original receipts within 60 days of the expenditure.

03 · Summarize

What is this, and what do I have to do?

Summarize gives a two-line TL;DR, then a checklist of what the text asks of you, with dates and amounts copied exactly, and one line on who it is from. Made for long threads and forms you have been putting off.

Before

A 900-word email thread about the school trip

04 · Rewrite

Write the rough version. Send the good one.

Select a messy draft and press the shortcut. A polished version appears: same meaning, same language, your voice. Press ⌘↩ (Ctrl+Enter on Windows) to replace the text. Eight styles, from Fix grammar to Professional to Translate.

Before

hi, can we move the meting to thursday? i have a thing on wen

05 · Dictate

Say it. Zimplfy writes it properly.

Hold the shortcut and talk the way you talk: pauses, repeats, half sentences. Let go, and clean written text appears in the language you spoke, ready to paste into any app. No voice training, no setup.

You say

“eh so the meeting tomorrow is moved to eleven and uh can you bring the the printed contract”

Three steps. No new app to open.

Zimplfy lives in your menu bar on Mac or system tray on Windows, and works inside whatever you are already reading or writing in.

  1. 1

    Select

Highlight text in any app: an email, a web page, a PDF, a chat. Or hold ⌃⌥D to dictate.

  2. 2

    Press ⌃⌥R

A small panel opens next to your cursor. Choose Read aloud, Explain, Summarize or Rewrite. The result streams in within seconds. On Windows: Ctrl+Alt+R.

  3. 3

    Use it

Listen, read the plain version next to the original, or press ⌘↩ to replace the text with the rewrite. Esc closes.

Made for the texts that get in the way.

Zimplfy does not ask who you are. It asks what the text is doing, and takes that load off.

  • Letters that decide things

From the tax office, the bank, the school, the landlord. Dense, formal, with a deadline hidden in paragraph four. Explain and Summarize find the deadline and say it plainly.

  • Email all day

Threads that grew to forty messages. A reply that has to sound right. Summarize gets you the gist, Rewrite makes the reply land, Dictate lets you answer by talking.

  • Reading that costs effort

When decoding each line takes energy, there is less left for the meaning. Read aloud with the word marked keeps the place and halves the work.

  • Studying in a second language

Course texts, forms and official sites in Swedish or English. Explain keeps every fact but takes out the hard words. Read aloud teaches how it sounds.

Questions

Is my text or voice stored anywhere?

No. Text goes to Anthropic's Claude API and is streamed straight back. Audio for read aloud and dictation goes to ElevenLabs and is not kept. Our servers store only anonymous usage counts for the free quota. See the privacy policy.

Who is Zimplfy for?

Anyone who meets too much text. Hear a text instead of decoding it, get the plain version, see what you have to do, and answer by talking. Nothing to set up, and it never judges your spelling.

Which languages work?

Swedish and English for read aloud and dictation. Most languages for rewrite, explain and summarize. Swedish stays Swedish and English stays English unless you ask for a translation.

Does it work in Outlook on the web, Gmail and other web apps?

Yes. Zimplfy reads the selection through the operating system's accessibility APIs, with a copy-and-paste fallback that works in every browser and Electron app. That is why macOS asks for Accessibility permission on first launch.

Why does macOS say Apple could not verify Zimplfy?

Zimplfy is not in the App Store and not yet notarized by Apple, so a copy saved by your browser gets that dialog once. Easiest way past it: paste the one-line command from the download page in Terminal. It installs the same app with no dialog. Or open System Settings → Privacy & Security and press Open Anyway. You do it only once.

Why does Windows show a blue Windows protected your PC screen?

That is SmartScreen, which warns about any new installer that has not yet built up a reputation. Ours is new and not yet code-signed. Click More info, then Run anyway. You see it once per version.

Can I change the shortcut?

Yes. On Mac, Settings offers ⌃⌥R, ⌃⌥E, ⌃⌥Space, ⌥⌘R, ⇧⌘E, F18 and F19. On Windows the default is Ctrl+Alt+R and you can pick another combination in Settings.

Which AI models are used?

Claude from Anthropic for rewriting, explaining and summarizing. ElevenLabs for the voices and for turning speech into text. You can enter your own Anthropic API key in Settings to pay Anthropic directly for the text features.

Reading and writing should not be the hard part of the day.
